The Snow College pool is home to a community club swim team known as the Mako Shark Swim Team. It is made up of about 25 kids ages 6 – 18.

Each spring semester, this club team hosts an alumni swim meet for anyone who has ever been part of a swim team. It is a fun event for all those who love to swim.

Last Saturday, April 11, 2015, was the second time this event has been held. It was attended by those kids who make up the Mako Swim Team, along with a few of their parents, and many Snow College students. “It was a lot of fun.   More than I thought it would be,” said Will B., a Snow College student who participated in the meet.

The event is fun for everyone. Many Snow students who swam expressed how they felt that competitiveness of when they were swimming in high school. The younger kids got the chance to watch those who are older, giving them something to look up to and strive to be just as fast.

“I liked watching the cute little kids swim, and cheering everyone on,” commented Lauren Lund, a spectator at the event. Parents of the kids and fellow students came to cheer on those who swam. This added to the fun atmosphere of the event.

The pool manager, Matt Johnson, coaches, and swimmers of the Mako Swim Team are already looking forward to holding this event again next spring semester. So if you’re a swimmer of any kind and going to be here next year, be looking forward to signing up to see who can be the top swimmer at Snow College.

Kyle Lund was born and raised in Ephraim, Utah. After graduating from Manti High School in 2008, he attended Snow College for a year before serving an LDS mission in New Zealand. Kyle returned to Snow and graduated with an associate's degree in Construction Management in 2012. He is continuing his education at Snow until he transfers to a university. Kyle enjoys riding dirt bikes and spending time with his family. He lives with his wife, Lauren, and their son, Carter.
