With kids ranging from six weeks to six years old, the Child Development Lab is the place to be for many students at Snow College.
The Child Development Lab is a day care and preschool here right on campus. People from the community, students, and teachers bring their children here to campus to learn, grow, and be loved. The directors and teachers over the day care provide lessons and hands on activities for the children. When it’s not lesson time these children get to choose from many fun activities to do. Whether it be dramatic play, dress up, house, going to the science and discover station or doing arts and crafts. These children get the freedom to be themselves.
This day care, preschool is run by Danni Larsen, Teacher Jodi, and Teacher Stormy. Contributing to the success are the many volunteers from Snow College who come and help take care of the little ones.
When teacher Jodi was asked what her favorite part of the day care/preschool is she said her favorite part is watching them grow and develop and seeing their personality change. One of her favorite stories is about a little girl who had been in the day care since she was little. Whenever her mom would drop her off this little girl would scream and cry. It wasn’t easy on anyone. Now, even though she is smaller than most of the students, she is able to enjoy herself and have fun with the other children at the day care.
If you are planning to major in any major that has to do with child development or early education, you should definitely stop by and volunteer for a little while. Students receive hands-on training. If you are apart of any classes taught by Danni Larsen you will have the opportunity to teach these children.
They have their own facebook page. It’s called Little Badgers Day Care and Preschool.
