Christmas is around the corner, and events are popping up throughout Utah to celebrate. With activities from fireworks, to festivals and the Santa run. Utah has a lot to offer for everyone with various interests.

For those that enjoy walking around and trying food, the German inspired, Christkindlmarkt SLC, will be a treat. Free to the public, the annual Christmas market in Salt Lake City’s Foothill District will be from 4-7 December.

The Utah Santa Run offers exercise as a holiday activity, a great way to burn those calories from desserts and food. This event is in three places; Ogden, Gardner Village and Provo. By registering, a Santa Suit is included, and the run will have milk and cookie aid stations.

In Provo, a new adventure is offered by cruising along in a boat down the Provo River. Along the route Christmas music is played with light decoration around the river. Natalie Ockey, a resident in Utah, went on the ride with her family and thought it was a unique experience. She said, “It was a different and a fun way to see the lights and Santa.”

Ephraim City will be hosting an event on the 7 of December.  The event will be on Main street with a parade and fireworks. Sanpete County, one of the sponsors of the event call it: “The Music & Magic of Christmas”. Another Sanpete County tradition is the concert, Annual Messiah, with a combined choir and orchestra from Snow College and the community.

Christmas is a holiday that offers activities for family and friends. The activities can be a fun and unique way to start the Christmas season.

Jennifer Brethack is from Stockholm, Sweden and is currently a senior at Snow College studying for a bachelor’s in Public Relations.
