Alright ladies and gentlemen, at the start of this spring semester, I think it is appropriate to advise the general public about dating.

Ladies, this first piece of advice is for you. I know there are a lot of you out there who haven’t been on a date yet this year, and the question you are probably asking is, “why?” Well, I am here to inform you that the females in this world are confusing not only to the men out there, but also to ourselves.

Dating should be simple, right? Not for us. We tend to make things pretty complicated. So how can we fix it? Be approachable. Attitude is a prime key when it comes to meeting new people and branching out. Smile and make eye contact! Let the men of Snow College know that you are here and alive and you are a happy, “real” person.

Meeting new people, possibly even “the one”, also means you have to have good communication skills. Going on a date with someone doesn’t mean that you are going to marry him. You are just trying to get to know people and figure out what kind of person you like.

For those Disney princess fanatics who have seen the latest chick flick, “Frozen,” let’s take Ana’s advice.  She says, “love is an open door!” Now, all you have to do is step through it.

Okay guys, your turn. Now you may not have seen the movie “Frozen,” but let’s pretend you have. Kristoff is one of the main characters. In the beginning of the movie he doesn’t know that that he loves Ana, and he would have never figured it out if he hadn’t taken a chance. In the end, he gets the girl!

Be the Kristoff of someone’s dreams! Take a chance and ask that pretty girl out that you’ve been secretly admiring from afar. You may not even know her name, but hey, that’s a great place to start!

Snow College is a two year school; therefore, the great abundance of females here will dissipate because of academic reasons, or another man will snatch her up before you get the chance. Whatever the reason, your time may be running out. You don’t want to be two years too late for the girl of your dreams.

Okay ladies and gents, you have the potential to make this semester one of the best! You are the only person who can make it that way though. Enjoy it, make new friends and date around. The world is ready for you to keep moving on.
