Ah, the most wonderful time of the year is upon the students of Snow College. Not only are finals coming to a close, but the joys of the Holidays are right around the corner.
The majority of the student body will find their way home to celebrate the holidays and the temptation to spend the break binge watching their favorite Netflix series is considerable. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this, but winter in Utah is full of opportunities other places simply do not offer.
Utah is home to “the best snow on earth” and there are countless activities that focus on this great asset. There are 15 ski resorts spread across Utah, making them easily accessible to most of Utah. If skiing or snowboarding isn’t necessarily ones forte, there are hills to sled down, front lawns to build snowmen on, and the opportunity to admire the snowfall from inside.
Winter break also offers a chance for students to spend quality time with their families. Kassidy Barker, a sophomore at Snow College, expresses her feelings on winter vacation, “Winter break is the best because it’s a chance to get a break from school to relax and do fun things with my family.” Some fun, festive, and relaxing activities that can be done with family can include decorating around the house, watching Freeform’s 25 Days of Christmas, or spending time in the kitchen cooking treats for the family and neighbors.
Being able to spend time with family is amazing and so is spending time with a significant other. There are several magnificent date ideas for winters in Utah that are highly recommended. The lights at Temple Square in Salt Lake City are a tremendously beautiful sight and a great date night. There are the ice castles in Midway, numerous ice skating rinks across the state, and even lights at the Hogle Zoo.
As winter break approaches, try finding a new experience to go along with family traditions. Whether it’s snowboarding, or watching Christmas Movies, the holidays are about doing things with people.
