Kyle Collinsworth has set a new record for NCAA history. The BYU junior completed his fifth triple-double this last Saturday at Loyola Marymount.
A triple-double is when a player completes a double-digit number total in three of five statistical categories (points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocked shots) in one game.
Collinsworth completed all of the triple-doubles in just 18 games, and now has more triple-doubles than all BYU players in history combined.
As Collinsworth was completing his third triple-double, he could hear the crowd yell out “one more” and had no idea what they were trying to say. He found out about the triple-double he had just completed after he was pulled out of the game with just one minute left.
If Collinsworth completes six triple-doubles, he will set the career record. Shaquille O’Neal and Michael Anderson are the only ones to complete six triple-doubles.
