Privacy Hoax Circulates on Facebook

Don't forget to like and share! 🙂

A hoax has been going around Facebook, saying that account users will be required to pay $5.99 to keep their profile private unless they copy and paste the post, providing the same service free of charge.

While similar hoaxes have circulated Facebook in the past, this one is still assumed to be true by many users. The post reads:

“Now it’s official! It is published in the media. Facebook has just released his entry price: $5.99 to keep the subscription gold of your status of life “private”. If you paste this message on your page, it will be offered free (I said paste not share) if not tomorrow, all your posts can become public. Even the messages that have been deleted or the photos not allowed. After all, it does not cost anything for a simple copy and paste. Place in comments to copy and paste.”

As many people repeatedly see this post in their newsfeed, they begin to wonder if it is true. All of the information in the post is completely false.

According to Facebook’s privacy policy, they only have the right to distribute and share profile information based on the user’s privacy and account settings. As this hoax may have caused concern for some users, there is nothing to worry about. There will be no changes made to the Facebook privacy settings.
