Have you ever wondered what it would be like to stumble upon a crime scene? Three boy scouts and their leader had this experience this past Saturday while hiking near the Arizona Strip.
Glenn Beachman and three of his scouts took a wrong turn while hiking the Temple Trail on the Arizona Strip. They crossed through a ravine that would rejoin them back with their group. While on this small detour, they stumbled upon what they thought was just a large animal bone. They didn’t think too much of it and kept hiking. Soon they came upon a human skull.
“We had been talking about what it might have been,” Beachman said Monday, “when we came upon the skull. I said, ‘Guys, this isn’t an animal. That’s a human skull. We’ve come across a dead body, and this is probably a crime scene.” Some blankets and clothing that the body was thought to be wrapped in were also found on the scene.
Kelton Davies, who is in seventh grade, said sheriff’s deputies explained to him that they find two or three bodies in the area each year. Beachman now hopes that the investigators of the crime scene can identify the person and maybe answer some unanswered questions to family members.
