Snow College Book Club is a club started this semester. It provides the opportunity for students to gather together to read and also socialize.

Aicha Yassin, the president first started planning the book club the end of the fall semester. But her idea all started when she first got here.

When Aicha was coming to the U.S., she dreamed of joining a book club. But once she got here and found out that there wasn’t one, she made it her plan of starting a book club.

After getting support from one of her professors, she started planning the book club. She and a few members met in the fall, about the books to read, the concept, name, and the activities they wanted to do next semester.

It took a while for them to start, since they had to wait and see if they got funded. After they waited, the book club started up in March.

Aicha was very happy. “I’m very excited about the book club, because as I was told there hasn’t been [book] club for the past five years or so. I think it’s very important to keep it up and encourage it.”

The book club goal is to help students read more and to socialize and make friends. They are now designing shirts and suggesting books together.

Right now, the book club is reading “The Book Thief.” They will watch the movie this Thursday.
