Throughout the first weekend in March, the Tennis Club teams competed in the Intermountain Championship tournament. This tournament attracted many college and university club teams from multiple states in the West.
Marisa Coburn, Shelley Braithwaite, Emma Benson, Blake Reynolds, Medina Dore, Dallon Maxwell, and Nick Trotter were among the Snow College players. The Snow College Tennis Club is unique because club members have an opportunity to compete against other universities in official club tournaments.
On Friday, March 4, Shelley Braithwaite and Marisa Coburn won their women’s doubles volley against the University of Wyoming 6-2. The team’s score allowed them to continue tournament play the next day.
On Saturday, March 5, Snow College played Weber State in a match that ended with the Badgers winning 23-21. During the match, Reynolds and Braithwaite both won their singles matches 6-3. Additionally, the mixed doubles team composed of Nick Trotter and Emma Benson beat their opponents 6-3. These wins, along with contributions from their team members, led them to win the overall match against Weber State University.
Because they won the match, the Badger’s were invited to play in an additional match against the University of Wyoming. In this match, Shelley Braithwaite again won her women’s singles match for the third volley in a row. Team members Coburn, Benson, Reynolds, Maxwell, and Trotter competed in women’s and men’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles to finish up the tournament.
The Tennis team’s season has not come to an end yet. They have an additional match on Saturday, March 19 located in the Salt Lake Swim and Tennis Club against The University of Utah.
