With a renewed level of enthusiasm for the upcoming season, Badger Football will host its annual Blue vs Orange spring football game on April 26 at 7pm.
Spring football practices come with a high level of intensity and competition any season but this year, with the new coaches, the intensity levels will be at an all-time high. Running back Shammah Luani said, “We are trying to prepare for next season and become one unit. It will be great to see what everyone is bringing to the table!” In order to measure their progress, the team will have its annual spring scrimmage. “The Blue and Orange game is a big tradition here, I’m glad to have my turn playing in the game,” said freshman Andrew Gomez. Gomez and the rest of the team hope that a lot of people will come to the game.
Newly hired head coach, Andrew Mitchell, stressed the importance of the upcoming intersquad scrimmage by saying, “This is our chance to see where we are as coaches and how much progress our team has made.” Mitchell was recently hired as head coach in December after the 2018 season had finished. He looks to bring a high level of energy and push his team to be the best they can be. “The coaches are really excited to see how good we can be,” All Conference Punter Bunker Wimer stated. He then went on to say, “They show they are invested in us as people and don’t play favorites.”
With new coaches come changes to the team. Among those changes, this year will mark the first ever Snow College Football Alumni Flag Football Game. “Connecting with guys that have been in the program before is really important to us.” Coach Mitchell said in this regard. The Alumni game will start at 5 pm before the team scrimmage.
With the Badgers heading in to the 2019 season expectations are high for both the players and new coaches. Friday April 26 at 7 pm promises to be an exciting time as the Badgers kick off their annual spring football game.
