Snow College’s Rodeo team is back at it again with another rodeo. The spring rodeo season will kick off with the team travelling to Salina, UT on March 5 and 6 to put on another great show. Additionally, there will be the CSI Rodeo on March 12 and 13 and the Weber State Rodeo on March 26 and 27.
The students of Snow’s rodeo team participate in many events including steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, breakaway roping, goat tying, team roping, bull riding, barrel racing and many other events.
Shaylee Poppleton is a member of the rodeo team who participates in breakaway and team roping. Poppleton says that she has “enjoyed meeting all the team members and riding horses with them.” She also says, “My favorite part of being on the team has been the opportunity I have had to ride my horses whenever I want. Even if that means skipping one or two classes…”
Hyrum Richens, also a member of the rodeo team who does team roping and calf roping says, “I like rodeo because I get to be doing what I have grown up doing, which is always working with horses.”
A lot of hard work has gone into putting the rodeo together every year; one important helper is Kendra Bagley. Bagley is a professor at Snow College who is also the coach of the rodeo team.
Students who are interested in attending the rodeo should make plans to head to Salina on March 5 and 6 to have some fun and watch Snow’s talented students participate in the Snow College Rodeo!
