A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…
It is a period of civil war. The Resistance and the First Order are at odds again, but this time with new rebels and stormtroopers. These fighters are best known as Star Wars fans. The force has awakened the power of opinion on all of them.
Many of them ride a spaceship in the name of the Resistance and others in the name of the First Order. And there are others who race in a spaceship to arrive to a compromise.
The Resistance are the Star Wars fans who consider the new trilogy a rich addition to the first series. The First Order is composed of the fans who consider that the new trilogy and the plot of the new movies don’t correlate with the first series.
The end has arrived. JJ Abrams was able to direct another adventours and emotional ride with the last movie of the Trilogy, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The movie became #1 at the box office and brought several million in its opening weekend.
The movie follows the plotline of the discovery that Palpatine did not die at the hands of Darth Vader and is looking to build a New Empire. The story features Rey anticipating her confrontation with Kylo Ren, while practicing as a Jedi with Princess Leia. Meanwhile, Finn and Poe lead the resistance to stop the First Order from accomplishing Palpatine’s plan.
Many Star Wars fans were thrilled with the new plot of the movie and how Kylo and Rey’s relationship developed throughout the film. Some of them really appreciate Rey having a background and a connection to the force, instead of just being a random person who became a Jedi.
Jacob Hable, a freshman at Snow College, shares his opinions by saying, “In the first movie of the trilogy you get this perspective that anyone can be a Jedi, I don’t really like that idea. Learning that Rey is a descendant of a Sith Lord, it changes that perspective and leaves that idea that being a Jedi is special and not anyone can do it.”
Other fans didn’t appreciate the plot of the movie at all. Trying to give fans what they want, the director and writers incorporated the kiss scene between Kylo and Ren but it didn’t quite follow the plotline of the story, and many fans were actually disgruntled by its appearance. Other fans were confused on Rey’s sudden relation to Palpatine and his appearance in the movie. The public was looking for a new villain, not one raised from the dead.
JJ Abrams tried incorporated the past story of the Jedi’s with the new stories, and in the process the trilogy could be considered as not original, the plot and story were really similar to that of the old trilogy. Fans say that it was almost repetitive to some extent.
All in all, the Resistance and the First Order were able to arrive at a compromise. Big news, never heard of before. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was a domestic hit in America, because of its well thought cinematography, editing and direction. Although, some fans didn’t agree with the whole story or plot of the movie, many of them accept that it was a good film in general. May the Force be with you all.
