The most magical time of the year, Christmas, can also be the most hectic. Families come together during Christmas to spend time with each other and enjoy activities. They can also bond with loved ones by watching Christmas movies.
One holiday classic film is the 1983 comedy film, A Christmas Story. It’s about a young boy, Ralphie Parker, who is constantly made fun of for his dream gift, he hopes to get a “Red Ryder Air Rifle”. He is often dodging his bully and frequently at odds with his cranky father, but his sweet mother is always there to comfort him. Ralphie struggles to make it to Christmas Day with his hopes and glasses still intact.
Another great laugh is, the Jim Carrey version of How The Grinch Stole Christmas. The Grinch (played by Jim Carrey) decides to “steal” Christmas from the citizens of WhoVille. He is accompanied by his less than willing dog, Max. However, the grump gets in a stitch with his plans because of a little Who girl, Cindy Lou Who.
A more modern day movie is Elf. Buddy (Will Ferrell) is accidentally transported to the North Pole as a child and was raised by elves. However, Buddy is unable to shake the feeling he doesn’t belong in the North Pole. Once Buddy finds out the news about his real dad, Walter Hobbs, he takes a journey to the busy streets of New York.
The next film is The Polar Express. This is a film about a boy who starts to doubt everything about Christmas. One night, he takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole and makes some new friends. He embarks on this journey of self-discovery that shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.
The last Christmas movie is Home Alone. A young boy named, Kevin McCallister is left home on accident by his family. Having the whole house to himself he indulges in the endless fun, until a couple robbers try to break in. Kevin makes many Rube Goldberg type contraptions to stop them from getting away with the robbery.
These films are some of the top Christmas movies that many have high IMDB ratings or low dislike ratings. They are worth seeing and are perfect for the Christmas holiday.
