The Lady Badgers are sitting at a 87 record in conference play and are looking forward to finishing the regular season and fighting for a Region championship. Freshman Guard Harley Hansen said of the tournament, “As a young team this year we have worked together to get where we are. We’ve had some great wins and some close losses, but we have learned and progressed from them. We are working very hard and look forward to the

tournament. Every team in our conference is good, so we need to continue to stay strong as a team. We are not going to go down without a fight. Let’s go Lady Badgers!”

Region 18 has been a close race all season, with many of the games having been decided by just a few points. This means the tournament truly is open to anyone. Forward Mykel Davis said “We have had our ups and downs this season, but we’ve continued to push through. We’ve had a good season and, going into the tournament, I believe we’ll make a strong presence and whoever we play it will be a fight to win.”

Offensively this season, Harley Hansen and Madison Mooring have led the charge. Harley Hansen has averaged 11 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, leading the team in both categories, while Madison Mooring leads the team in assists per game, at 2.9. Defensively, Hansen leads the team at 3 steals per game, while Siki Suguturaga leads the team in blocks.

The team will travel to Salt Lake to play in the Region 18 tournament on March 2 through the 4. They will have to beat out the same teams they have been battling all season, including rivals USU Eastern, whom they have beaten 4 times, and Salt Lake Community College, whom they have had some close games with, but have yet to defeat. If they win that tournament, they will be eligible to compete in the NJCAA National Tournament later in March.
