NJCAA DI Women’s Soccer Championship title was the last tournament played by the women’s badgers soccer team, the tournament was played between the 15th to the 20th of November in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Badgers qualified in the 7th spot to nationals after losing the regional final against Salt Lake Community College. Therefore, Snow overcame and started nationals in a good way by defeating Navarro College 5-6 in penalty shootout after a 2-2 overtime, with goals scored by Sydney Cragun and Fiona Jensen.
Second match was against Seminole State College, the match started in a favorable way with Mayu Yamamoto scoring in the first half, however, our players began to feel the minutes played on their legs, which caused them to be tied in the second half. Unfortunately, they ended up losing on penalties 3-2, which caused the end of the tournament for our badgers.
The tournament did not give the expected result, as the badger forward Lizzy Kindrick said: “We could have gone further, it was frustrating to know that earlier in the season we beat Eastern Florida who ended up being the nationals champion.”
Nevertheless, it was a great season for our badgers. Snow finished number 6 in the nation, with 81 goals scored, 16 wins, 2 draws, and only 1 loss, which leaves us with great expectations for the following season.
