Late Fees through Badger Mail, What is Badger Mail? Have you ever checked your Badger Mail?

Do you have your own personal email that you use for school purposes? Do you ever get on your Snow College Badger mail that is provided by the school? Did you even know you had a Badger mail? If you said yes to any of these questions, you are the majority. Recently it has become quite a large issue here at Snow College, that students are unaware of how important it is to check their Badger mail. According to a survey that freshman student Britney Thorne conducted, 90% of students that she asked do not check their Badger mail.

Because students are not completely familiar of what happens through this email, it has caused many of them to be charged fines and late fees that are only being notified through Badger mail. Just like Britney Thorne, many others have had hundreds of dollars in fees or fines due to various causes that they were uninformed about.

Snow College’s IT Department has been working with students to help resolve this issue. They have come up with multiple solutions, such as forwarding late fees and other school information through canvas, or just forwarding it through a student’s personal email that was given to the school when registering. It is possible to link both your personal email and Badger mail so messages sent through the school will go to the email of your choice. If you do have issues figuring this out there are people on campus that can help set that up for you.

We are lucky here to have the Snow College provide this Badger mail service and we should use it to our advantage. However, everyone needs to be aware of how to use this service. It is a misfortune that many students have had to suffer because they neglected to read their school mail. So let’s make it a priority to check it out and work to organize what works best. Snow College is continuing to work with this issue and will have more information regarding this next semester.
