Nintendo debuted their first “Direct” presentation of the year on Feb. 9, 2022. The presentation had a 40 minute runtime, full of various new announcements of games coming to the Nintendo Switch system.

Throughout the Direct, Nintendo spent the most time on unveiling a look at the new Nintendo Switch Sports, a sports game for the platform that appears to be a spiritual successor of its famous Wii predecessor.

Various students expressed their excitements surrounding the Direct on the Snow College app, with Yacoob Al-Abdullah, Taylor Johnson, Drew Petersen, Dorian Cottle, Jay Gardner, Colin Zanocco, Althea Ablen, and others sharing games they were looking forward to see arrive on the console.

Other notable announcements include new entries in the Xenoblade Chronicles, Mario Strikers, and Fire Emblem Warriors series, as well as a look at a DLC pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and the confirmation of Salmon Run returning for Splatoon 3, which is due this summer.

Various ports of classic games were also announced, including the Portal games and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, even Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky is coming to the platform.

Notably absent from Direct was more information on Bayonetta 3 and the Breath of the Wild sequel, each of which got new trailers in 2021 after seeing a drought of news in years prior. Both are still currently slated to release this year, so more information on them is sure to come soon.
