The Associates of Arts program at Snow College brings in many aspiring and talented new artists each school year. Throughout the year, various art shows take place in the Alt Space of the Humanities and Arts building and the Annex Student Gallery in the Eccles Center. These shows not only give new artists exposure to the world of what professional artists can expect, but also give the public and other Snow College students a chance to admire and show support for those artists’ and their work.
Sarah Osborne, a freshman, who is looking forward to being able to participate in the galleries said, “I think that the galleries are a great asset to us as students and artists, because they give us a chance to showcase our work, whereas in some other places, that wouldn’t be as easily accessible. That definitely makes us feel like we are on our way to becoming even better, more professional artists.”
This upcoming year, students can expect several gallery shows, featuring work from not only students, but the faculty of the Fine Arts Department and other local artists as well. These shows are a great opportunity to see many various bodies of work created by dedicated students who represent the great talent here at Snow College.
The first scheduled gallery is set to take place November 4 through December 13 in the Alt Space gallery, the opening reception of which is set for November 4 from 6-8 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.
