Play 18-holes of golf, paddle, or troll around Palisade Reservoir. Set up the perfect campsite; Palisade State Park offers something for everyone. From its desert canyon golf course, RV and tent camping, to off-highway vehicle access in nearby Six-Mile Canyon, Palisades is a highlight of Sanpete County. Palisade State Park is located 15 miles south of Ephraim for anyone looking for an outdoor adventure.
Todd Nielsen of West Jordan organized a neighborhood party on one large camping site recently. “The place is a lot of fun,” he said. “I love the golf, weather, and water.”
Indeed, with an elevation of 5,868 feet, the park is a cool respite from hot summers in the valley, though that makes the water temperature in the reservoir a bit cool for swimmers.
Tae’lor Thompson, a summer employee at Palisade state Park said, “Working at the park has been so much fun! I’ve seen people have colored chalk fights and build sandcastles on the beach. I even find myself coming with friends to the park on my days off and on the weekends. I love the hiking around the park and it’s really refreshing to jump in the lake on a hot day. I think Snow College students should really take advantage of the fun things to do at Palisades in the spring.”
Tae’lor continued, saying, “Palisades is a beautiful park and I’ve really come to appreciate the beautiful scenery in Sanpete County. I really take pride in how well we keep up the park,” shared Tae’lor. “ We work hard to keep the bathrooms, tables, and beach clean while grooming the campsites and grass areas.”
Palisade State Park is an opportunity for students to explore the great outdoors right in Ephraim’s backyard. To reach Palisade, drive south through Manti into Sterling. Palisade is located on the left, where a sign directs tourists to the park entrance. Palisade charges $8 per car to picnic. Camping prices vary according to use.
