Mariah Peterson began playing softball as soon as she could swing a bat, beginning her career playing in the Spanish Fork t-ball league.
Mariah played her freshman year at Maple Mountain High School, but transferred to Spanish Fork to finish out her high school career. Her sophomore year at Spanish Fork, her team won the 4A state title. “It was cool winning and all, but my favorite part was riding the fire truck down Main Street with the baseball team. That was our goal all year,” said Peterson.
Peterson was a two sport athlete in high school, also playing basketball. She lettered in both sports all four years. “Basketball was a good break from softball, it was kinda like my pre-season conditioning. By the time spring came, I was ready for softball to start.” Mariah now starts at second base for the Snow College softball team.
When not playing softball, Mariah enjoys scooter rides, swimming, and last minute adventures. She’s an avid Disneyland visitor, making a trip to the park as often as she can. She also enjoys spending time playing with her two nieces.
“My favorite part about Snow is how willing the teachers are to work with you to ensure your success, and it’s not a far a trip to Spanish Fork,” said Mariah. After Snow, Mariah plans to continue her education at Utah State, majoring in elementary education.
