Snow College’s ballroom team is dedicated to the art of dance. Not only do the members of the team get exercise, but it’s also an opportunity to make friends with those also interested in dance.

There are many different reasons why students would enjoy themselves on the ballroom team. Alex Olsen, a member of the ballroom team says, “It’s a good experience because it gets you out of your comfort zone. The experience will make you work, expand, and it gives you a better understanding of dance. There’s a wide variety of backgrounds in the class that help you see different perspectives and make new friends.”

The ballroom team meets four days a week. Their practices include workouts, dance routines, and choreography. It is a serious commitment for those involved on the team.

The ballroom team was recently involved in the Snow You Think You Can Dance event. Alex Olsen and Camry Halliday won the competition. The Ballroom team also holds dance labs every third Thursday of the month from 7-9 PM. This is an open event for anyone interested in learning how to dance.  Olsen stated, “The ballroom team wants others to know that it’s fun, and a sport you can look forward to. You get the chance to dance with a girl or guy while listening to great music. It’s a good time.”

Their upcoming performances are from April 21st to the 23rd at the Eccles building. They will be holding auditions for returning and freshmen students April 23rd from 10 AM until noon. A headshot is required for returning students. Jenny Mair is the dance director. Her office is located in the Activity Center across from the dance room.
