The Snow Badgers football team faced off against the Scottsdale Community College Artichokes at home on Saturday, September 13.
The Artichokes came to Ephraim with a 1-1 record while the Badgers had a 2-0 record.
The contest was a strong battle between quarterbacks. Alex Kuresa of Snow College and Michael Sanders of Scottsdale Community College combined to throw for all nine touchdowns scored during the game.
The first quarter ended in a 7-7 tie. Scottsdale came out strong in the second quarter and took a commanding 27-7 lead at halftime.
Both teams scored again in the third quarter and entered the fourth quarter with a score of 34-14.
The Badgers rallied back in the fourth scoring two touchdowns, including a 14-yard touchdown pass to Stephen Shepard and a 67-yard touchdown pass to Arlonzo Simpson on fourth down and seven with 6:20 remaining in the game.
The Snow College defense forced a stop and regained possession with 2:56 left in the game at their own 35-yard line.
With a close score of 34-28, the Badgers drove down the field to gain a first and goal situation at the Scottsdale three-yard line.
The Artichoke defense held up and forced a fourth and goal on the one yard line. With one chance left to win the game, a mishandled snap resulted in a fumble as Scottsdale forced a turnover on downs.
The Artichokes ran out the clock handing the Badgers their first loss of the season. Both teams ended the day with a 2-1 record.
