Soe Pa Pa Khaing, called Amy, is a new student studying social science at Snow College. She came from Myanmar this year and is enjoying her new life here.

Amy always has a lot of curiosity. She found that the education system in Myanmar is very different from those of other countries’. She wanted to have different experiences and she believed it would be so fun. That is what led her to go outside and made her decide to study abroad.

Actually, Amy didn’t choose Snow by herself. She got a scholarship from her school in Myanmar last year to study at Snow.

She said, “I was so happy but scared at the same time when I think about going to foreign land where is no one I know or depend on.”

Amy had a good time on the first day here because, “I didn’t have to go classes and I had so much fun with international students in the orientation,” she said. She also saw something new to her those days, which was snow. Her country has no snow, so she was always excited about seeing snow and she loves it.

Amy loves people here. She describes the happiest thing for her is all her friends and all the nice people she got to know here. On the other hand, she feels the food here is hard for her to eat every day. She has not gotten used to American food yet.

Amy is trying to learn new things and have new experiences at Snow College. After she graduates from Snow, she wants to be a person whose existence is helpful and valuable for the society and the world.
