You might think those are strong words, and you may be wondering why I chose to write about such an article. Well, to tell you the truth, I’ve grown tired of seeing all the global warming propaganda that is being perpetrated in today’s mainstream society.
It’s really quite an intriguing argument, and one that might actually be believable to those who don’t do their homework and research the subject in depth. For those who have, I congratulate you on doing your homework. For those who may not know very much about the subject, fear not, because I am going to be your guide as we de-bunk the myth that is Global Warming.
Let’s begin with the White House. John Holdren, the scientific advisor to President Obama, recently released a graph on www.whitehouse.gov about global warming, and how the arctic and the mid level regions (i.e., the United States) were getting closer together in temperature. On this graph, Mr. Holdren begins with the years 1978. This is of note, as during this time, Mr. Holdren and other far-left scientific contemporaries were trying to incite a panic about the coming global ice age. Now, 1978 was cooler than some other years on record, but had the scientific community been honest about this point and started earlier in the century, you would see that the temperature hasn’t really warmed that much at all. In fact, there was a bit of a global cooling from about 1940-the mid 1970’s.
So starting off, the scientific community was panicking about a coming global ice age. Now today, we’re told that instead of an ice age, it will be a global melt down. Maybe this is just me, but shouldn’t there be some set of proven results one way or the other? How is it possible that something that should be warming the planet, is instead causing it to freeze?
Let’s take this another step further. 1998 was the hottest year on record. What has happened since then? Well, not that you’ll get many people who believe in this propaganda to say it, but the earth has actually been cooling for the past 16 years. The earth’s temperature hasn’t actually risen, it has fallen. But why should we let that ruin a good doomsday prediction?
You see, Global Warming isn’t so much about bigger temperatures, as it is about bigger government. So many politicians in Washington tell us that if we just let the government take more control, then they will be able to fix the “climate change” problem. We are told that if we just surrender more of our money and more of our freedoms to the government, then they will stop this big bad climate change problem. When has government really proven effective at fixing any problem, let alone controlling the weather.
Global warming, just like global cooling, is a natural process that occurs all the time. It has nothing to do with anything that man is doing. The earth was warming and cooling long before mankind came into existence, and it will continue to occur long after mankind is gone. It is a natural process that works through natural law.
The funny thing about this argument is that major proponents of this idea (i.e., Al Gore, President Obama, etc.) aren’t living by the guidelines that they themselves say would help solve the problem. Al Gore lives in one of the least energy efficient households in America. He is driven around in private limo’s and motorcades. He flies in a private jet, all which spew carbon into the atmosphere. The president does the same, never really considering the impact that their “carbon footprint” is leaving.
But as I said before, this issue isn’t about temperatures getting bigger, it’s about government getting bigger. The people who advocate this issue don’t really believe in it as it is presented to us. They only believe in it as a means to an end. They see it as a pathway for them to get more power over you and your life. It’s an easy way for them to make money.
So the next time someone tries to make you feel bad for driving your big truck or SUV instead of a hybrid car, just give them a smile. Let them enjoy driving their Toyota Prius and eat vegan meals, while you enjoy driving in your big pick-up truck enjoying a nice juicy bacon cheeseburger.
