On January 22, 2018 the Utah Jazz lost to the Atlanta Hawks 104-90. After this loss, the Jazz went on to win their next 11 games.

The Utah Jazz have been stunning the NBA with their eleven-game win streak. Starting with the first two games, the Jazz defeated the Detroit Pistons by three points and the Toronto Raptors by four. These two close wins gave the Jazz enough momentum and energy to bring into their next game against the Golden State Warriors. The Jazz swept the Warriors 129-99.

There are several key players that help lead the Jazz to victory. Players such as Ricky Rubio, Derrick Favors, and Rudy Gobert were key components to helping the Jazz dominate the league, but their new rookie Donovan Mitchell has also been making a huge impact on the team.

On their 129-97 win against the Phoenix Suns, Mitchell dropped forty points. The first-round draft pick who was traded from the Denver Nuggets has been proving to the league why he should be named Rookie of the Year.

As the leading scorer for the Jazz and a career high of forty-one points, Mitchell has been an outstanding rookie so far this season. “The kid has got a lot of game. They’ve been riding that wave all season since they realized what they actually got. He’s not afraid of the moment,” said Lebron James of the Cavaliers to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Mitchell was recently announced the champion of the Slam Dunk Contest this weekend at the NBA All-Star Weekend. He was also announced Kia Rookie of the Month. These accomplishments could foretell the future of what Mitchell and the Jazz will play like for the rest of the season.
