The Snow College Advanced Women’s Choir prior to spring break was able to visit California as a part of being invited to attend the regional conference for AMDA, or American Choral Directors Association.

The conference was held in Long Beach, California Mar. 2-5 and featured choirs from all over Western USA as the conference offered participation in performances, collaborative activities and workshops, listening to, speaking to, and working with renowned composers, and more.

While it was the audition tracks from several years prior that actually got accepted, it was this year that the women’s choir here at Snow was given the opportunity to attend. Composer Haven Omar wrote an original, unique song for the choir to perform, which received a standing ovation alongside their other performance.

Georgia Collings, a member of the women’s choir, said that it went very well. “I loved getting to know my [fellow] choir members more and just having the opportunity to try new things. I saw the ocean, Disneyland, and Vegas for the first time. In Vegas I also had the best piece of pizza I have ever had in my life.”
