The Snow College’s Honors Program took students on an academic adventure to the Utah Natural History Museum this semester, offering a behind-the-scenes experience led by University of Utah professors.

Approximately 25 students, accompanied by five faculty members, embarked on the trip via the Snow College bus to Salt Lake City. Upon arrival, they received an exclusive guided tour showcasing the museum’s impressive collection of over 150,000 plant species. The University of Utah experts provided insights into botanical research and preservation efforts, giving students a unique glimpse into the science behind the exhibits.

After the guided portion, students wandered the museum at their own pace, marveling at dinosaur fossils, ancient human skeletons, and other fascinating artifacts that tell the story of Utah’s rich natural history. The experience allowed them to deepen their understanding of science and history in a hands-on environment.

The trip concluded with a stop at The Pie Pizzeria, a renowned local favorite known for serving the "Best Pizza in Salt Lake." Students and faculty indulged in massive 23-inch pizzas, capping off the day with great food and conversation.

Honors students attended the trip for free, making it a valuable opportunity to engage in learning beyond the classroom. This excursion is one of the many enriching experiences provided by Snow College’s Honors Program, which also includes an annual field trip and a visit to the Shakespeare Festival each fall semester.

With engaging activities like these, Professor Larry Smith said “the Honors Program continues to be an academic program that offers an enhanced education supported by immense opportunities.”
