This event was only planned for 300 students, thinking not many people would show up.
However, more than 400 students attended. Luke Larsen, a member of the student life who
helped plan the event, said “I am surprised so many people came.” By the end of the night, all
the pumpkins were painted and all the soup was eaten.
“This event was good because it involved the students who don't like to participate in the
dances and skate nights,” says Andilyn Anderson, a member of the student life team. Having this
fall activity was an alternative from the high energy dance and skate nights. This drew more
students' attention then the student life team had planned.
This event was filled with a fall atmosphere. Leaves decorated the room, music played in
the background, and the lighting created a cozy feeling. Potato soup was provided for the
students to eat while they painted.
Students gathered in groups, sitting at tables, to paint their pumpkins. There were
students who embraced the Halloween theme and painted ghosts, spiderwebs, and bats. Other
students took a different approach painting the American flag, spiderman, donuts, and hearts.
This activity also gave students the opportunity to meet new people. When talking to a
group of students, Christian Seda said “We came for the food and the friendships.” The group
expressed that some of them had just met at the activity and were able to get to know each other
as they painted their pumpkins.
With over 400 students attending, this event gave students a chance to enjoy the fall
season by spending time with other fellow students in a relaxed environment.
As the fall season continues, students are encouraged to keep an eye out for the A-frames
around campus for more upcoming activities to join in on the fun.
