On Campus Fright Night

On October 23rd, multiple of the on campus resident apartments had Fright Nights. The “Fright
Nights” were to celebrate Halloween.

These events were hosted by the resident assistants at Snow College hosted them. The Fright Night was a free event. It included a costume contest, painting pumpkins, having pizza and candy, watching Halloween movies, and hanging out with other students. When asked what her favorite part of Fright Night was, Sophia Jenson, a current English major, said: “I would say the movie, as I haven’t seen Hocus Pocus in a while and it’s one of my favorites.” The Fright Nights were part of the resident assistants' duty to have at least one activity for students in a semester.
Resident Assistants–RA’s for short–are student staff members who help provide resources and
support to other students. RA’s also have to plan and create one activity or program per semester
to help students socialize, build community, and learn life skills [1]. “Every RA has an event that
they have to plan for the semester. I chose October as I love Halloween.” Arthur Higley, the RA
over the Anderson Hall Fright Night, explained after being asked what the idea behind Fright
Night was.
Students have access to these once-a-month activities. This includes events like Fright Night. It
allows students more opportunities to take a break from their schoolwork while also allowing
them to socialize at events.
It can be difficult for students to maintain a healthy work-life balance. The RA-created activities
can help students with their work-life balance by having an opportunity to have a break. It is also
close by for students who live on campus while also being free for all students to attend.
Activities like Fright Night are typically held once a month. These activities are an opportunity
to socialize, gain support, get snacks, and have a good time if a student chooses to attend
