Every Friday, from 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the Magic: The Gathering club meets on the second floor of the Greenwood Student Center with the goal of playing Magic and meeting new people who share an interest.
For those who don’t know, Magic is
an in-depth trading card game where 2 or more players compete by building a custom deck to fight against the other players by placing lands and casting spells. The rules of magic can be complicated but are much easier to learn with other players.
The club welcomes both competitive players and inexperienced players alike. Any player who has a deck can join. They just need to find a group. If a student is interested and doesn’t have a deck, the club holds onto a few decks for those who don’t have one, but President Jeremiah Dobesh advises that players bring their own when possible.
While the club is open to everyone, it will be having competitions for those interested. To encourage participation, the club offers incentives.“We have a box of packs we are planning to hand out as prizes.” Dobesh explains.
