Exams can be stressful but that doesn’t mean there are no tricks to help someone study better. There are many different ways to study.

A useful trick suggested by Dr. Olson is called the Brain Dump. This is a process where someone writes everything that they know about the topic they are working on, making sure to see what is missing. Find the gaps in a persons’ knowledge.”

Make a game out of it while testing oneself. Finding the gaps in knowledge can help lead to success. It can give the chance to go back through notes in a fun way.

Find ways to decompress if studying becomes too overwhelming. Stressing over study time is not going to help a person study. “Schedule out the times you study with small breaks if you need to, your mental health is important and needs to be protected as well as the grade. (Kendra Bagley)” Simply having different days for a different topic focus might be able to help.

Finals are coming up quickly. Try not to leave study for the last possible moments; try not to procrastinate. Procrastination can do more harm than good, and It can confuse someone more or push them completely off track if they let it.

Finding and practicing good study habits that work for each unique individual can be the first step in the right direction. If one way does not work, experiment and try another. Do what works for oneself. Work to the best of one’s abilities. Good luck studying and on finals.
