Snow College hosted high school FFA, Future Farmers of America, students from around the state at the Manti fairgrounds for the Snow College FFA competition.

Some of the schools present were Kanab, Uintah, Millard, Delta, Manti, Toolele, and Carbon. Schools from 6a to 4a were all present.

FFA day is a good way for high school students to get real life exposure to jobs in agriculture and veterinary, and have a fun environment where students can make new friends. DaKota Cain from Millard High, “I am competing in vet. I enjoy coming to meet new people, and learning life skills.”

Snow Colleges Agriculture program set up the event and took students around to different events, while Snow College Ambassadors provided food, chocolate milk, and entertainment.

Kayla Georgeson from the Snow Ambassador team said “High school students come to compete in livestock, dairy, floral, and many other events.

Snow Ag classes all came to help judge and run the events, and the ambassadors came to support, help provide activities, and food for everyone.”

Some of the activities they planned were roping, nine-square, teaching line dances, line dances, and corn hole. The high school students and spectators had a lot of fun participating.

Snow Colleges concurrent enrollment program was also there to not only advertise their program to the high schoolers, but to also support all of their students who were there.

Many of the students who participated in FFA day are already concurrent enrollment students through Snow College. Concurrent enrollment is for high school students interested in taking college classes in high school.
