On January 15th, 2026, the Greenwood Student Center was filled with Spanish culture

and dancing. The sound of salsa music echoed through the building as students filled the dance

floor, laughing and learning new moves together.

For the evening, students attended a Salsa and Salsa night, filled with music, chips, maracas, and sombreros, at an event organized by the Snow College Student Association. Throughout the night, a live band performed playing authentic salsa music, and every thirty minutes, the band came out to teach a few salsa steps for participants to practice to their music. As the event continued, by the end of the night, everyone in attendance was a salsa-dancing expert! When asked about their experience at

salsa night, one student, Brookynn Christensen, said it was, “Salstastic!”

The event brought students together from diverse backgrounds, providing them with an

opportunity to celebrate their cultures, connect, and take a break from their busy schedules.

Meanwhile, just in case anyone was famished after dancing too hard, there was a salsa bar in

the corner. After a refreshment of chips and water, it was back out to the dance floor.

In addition to the dancing, to make the night even spicier, there was a chili

pepper-eating contest. With three different levels of spiciness, brave souls could compete to be

the fastest chilli-pepper eater. There was milk for relief afterwards and prizes for the winners.

As the night went on, the energy in the room only grew, with students cheering each

other on and encouraging even the most hesitant dancers to join in. Finally, the night closed with

a conga line and smiling students.

A good way to sum up the night, said by Kempton Christensen, is, “If you weren't there, you super salsa missed out!” Overall, watch out for announcements from Snow Badger Life to attend more fun events like this. Salsa and Salsa Night proved to be a memorable evening filled with laughter, community, and plenty of spice.
