The first two weeks of college are a whirlwind of emotions—equal parts thrilling and terrifying. Freshmen students reflect on the challenges and growth they’ve encountered.
For some, the workload of college classes was a big concern. “My biggest fear was that my classes were going to be randomly impossible and hard,” said freshman Jessica Larsen, “But it has changed because they are actually not too bad and all my teachers are nice!”
Adjusting to new faces and social circles is another hurdle students face. Jessica Larsen explained, “The hardest adjustment has been not knowing every person I interact with in a day because at Manti High, I personally knew everyone I had classes with.”
The transition has not been without highlights. First-year student, Kaelie Larsen, described her first week as “one of the most memorable, exciting, and nerve-wracking experiences ever.” Kaelie Larsen also notes, “The amount of people I’ve met, and then accidentally forgotten their names, forgotten what day it is, parties and events I’ve gone to, it’s all so insane! But I wouldn’t trade any of it.”
While the journey is just beginning, many freshmen are already gaining confidence in their ability to adapt. From fears of overwhelming classes to making new friends, the first two weeks prove how quickly growth comes in the first steps of college life.
