The Music department here at Snow has had a number of great performances this year, but the one that might take the top of them all may have been the “Guardians of the Galaxy” sing along.
This concert was the best for a lot of reasons. First and foremost, the creativity of it all and picking a movie series that had such an old school set of songs.
The set consisted of songs such as “Come and get your love” by Redbone, “I want you back” by The Jackson 5, and “Ain’t no Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye, and Tammi Terrell.
Another aspect that made this show such a great one was the fact that it was a sing along that featured the lyrics of each song on a massive stage projector so that everyone in the crowd could sing with the talented musicians on the stage.
The band utilized 5 vocalists, 3 guitarists, 1 drummer, 1 bass guitarist, and 1 keyboardist. This star-studded band consisted of Nick Ducos, Manny Guerrero, Nick Estrada, Rachel Krueger, Elizah Parry, Daniel Pardo, and Andrew Rowe. All individual vocalists were called upon to sing the lead for each song and the occasional duo vocals as well, all three guitarists had their own solos in the set, and even the drummer got in on the solo fun.
Drummer Andrew Rowe was asked what was his favorite part about being a drummer at Snow College and he responded, “It’s the amount of people that I get to meet, that are excited to play music” and he also said “We may not be the biggest school, but we most definitely have some of the biggest hearts and some of the biggest goal setters in music.”
Wise words from a very talented drummer, just one piece of an overall fantastic group of talented musicians.
