As rehearsals continue for Snow College’s upcoming production of Bright Star, excitement is

building among cast and crew. The bluegrass-inspired musical, written by Steve Martin and Edie

Brickell, presents unique challenges both musically and emotionally, but students say the

process has been both rewarding and transformative.

The production will run March 19–21 and March 26–28 at 7:30 p.m., with 2 p.m. matinee

performances on select Saturdays at the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts’s Kim Christison

Theatre on the Ephraim campus.

With opening night quickly approaching, rehearsals have intensified as performers and crew work to bring the heartfelt story to life. Because Bright Star is driven by live music and tight harmonies, rehearsals have required extra coordination between the pit musicians and performers. Cast members have spent weeks refining choreography, dialect work, and character development to capture the feel of the American South in the 1920s and 1940s.

The production’s bluegrass score adds another layer of complexity, demanding strong vocal precision and musical timing. Tickets for Bright Star are available through the Snow College box office, and students encourage the campus and community to come support the production during its two-week run.
