Snow College women’s basketball team entered their first conference home stand of the season with a record of 12-6 matching the teams win total from the previous season but had 3 straight gut-wrenching games vs conference foes.

The Lady Badgers first dropped their conference home opener Thursday January, 16 against North Idaho College (NIC) 72-57. It was a close contest through the first 20 minutes of play with the Badgers being down 32-30 at halftime.

However, a 4-13 shooting performance in the third quarter saw Snow College down 51-39 entering the fourth. Snow college would end up scoring 18 points on 41.7% shooting from the field in the fourth but couldn’t climb out of the hole. Maliya Elliot would end up leading the Badgers in scoring with 15 points.

After a loss to NIC the Snow College women’s basketball team hosted the No.13 ranked College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles. After 2 quarters of action the badgers entered halftime down single digits 33-24.

An efficient third quarter of shooting the ball would see the badgers only down entering the fourth after out scoring CSI 21-13 in the third. Unfortunately, the Badgers offensive success ended in that fourth quarter. Snow College was outscored 21-6 and dropping the game 67-51. Freshman, Sydnee Smith, led Snow College on the glass and in the scoring column with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Fast forwarding to Thursday January, 23 in state rival Utah State Eastern Eagles (USUE) came to Ephraim to close out the Badgers home stand. Snow College controlled the first half with an early 15-5 lead in the first quarter and entered halftime up 24-19.

An even battle in the third quarter would see both teams score 14 points with the Badgers still up 5 points (38-33) entering the final period.

In the last 10 minutes of play the badgers would be outscored 18-12 after committing 3 turnovers in the final 2 minutes of action. The Lady Badgers dropped their third straight game at home after a foul was called with less than one second and the game clock and Addasyn Scrivner made one of two free throws to seal the game.

Sophomore center Iyana Beh, who did play against the Eagles in price, put on a double-double performance with 15 points and 10 rebounds leading the badgers in both categories.

Now the Lady Badgers are wheels on the ground again for a long-distance road trip to North Idaho College on Thursday January 30 with tip off at 5pm. They then travel south to Twin Falls Idaho and will play CSI at 1pm.
