Ready or not, here comes Spring 2025 semester! At the start of the new semester, Snow College welcomed over 300 new freshmen to campus.

On January 9th, 2025, many organizations on campus worked together to provide incoming freshmen with an experience in hopes to help them feel comfortable and confident owning their college experience.
With a variety of events such as games, a build your own nacho bar, two speeches given by Snow College President Stacee Mclff, and Vice President Cody Branch who shared their thoughts and feelings of how to have a great first college experience, introductions to both the student life department and the Peer Mentors, an open question and answer for students to voice any kind of concerns, questions, etc. Lastly, before heading out for the Student Life activity, the Peer Mentors lead students on a tour throughout campus.
Snow College Peer Mentor and Ambassador Amanda Banks, shared, “We actually had a lot more students come than I thought. Especially where it is a spring semester and not a fall semester. I believe that they [the freshman] had fun and they even got free food.”
Where this is a spring semester, faculty and staff did not see the same turn out they did for the fall orientation, but were overall pleased to see that some students chose to participate in the orientation.
First year college students all over, not just in Sanpete County, have been known to have a wide variety of feelings going into college. These can vary greatly depending on each student. Snow College aims to help students feel equipped and have the resources available to be successful. The goal of orientation was to meet new people in their same situation, be aware of a selection of resources available to each student on and off campus, activities, and feel more prepared to jump into their first semester.
A new freshman, Ryan Witbeck, also shared that there was a lot of helpful information given and dinner was good.
The enthusiasm of students and dedication of faculty, staff, SBO’s and Peer Mentors made the event a success. With a strong start and a supportive community, these freshmen are ready to embrace their college journey!
