In 1636, Harvard College hired the first student employees. Since then, millions of students have worked on campus while they were in college.
These student employees do a lot for their campus community, so the National Student Employment Association (NSEA) declared the second full week of April to be National Student Employee Appreciation Week.
Snow College has actively participated in this week for the last five years to recognize those working while in school and show appreciation for all that these students do for Snow.
With upwards of 630 student employees filling nearly 800 campus jobs, Snow offers many employment opportunities to those who need them. Many students also work off campus, further showing the dedication Snow Badgers have to gaining work experience while in school.
Allie Dorman, a sport’s medicine intern, said that her favorite part of working on-campus is “the connections I’ve made with the people I work with! Both students and staff, I’ve gotten opportunities I never thought I’d get and have absolutely loved it!”
Abbie Anderson, a tutor at the Math Lab, added on to Allie’s comment saying that it’s really nice that “it’s really close so I don’t have to drive to work. And the hours are really flexible for class schedules.”
This year, the Career Center hosted competitions and events to celebrate campus student employees. They held nominations for best student employee, handed out treats at the bell tower, highlighted students doing their jobs on social media, and handed out small gifts to each employee to thank them for their hard work and dedication.
Student employees do so much for Snow College, and campus wouldn’t run the same without them. The Career Center as well as faculty all over campus want to thank all of the employees for their hard work and dedication.
