Snow College Social Science Center Construction Underway

The new construction for the Mark R. and LeAnn W. Stoddard Social Science building is

now under way as of July 27, 2026, placing the $42 million dollar facility to open in the fall of

2028.

After the demolition of the previous Snow College Social Science building in 2003, the

groundbreaking for The Mark R, and LeAnn W is set to be complete 25 years after the original

was taken down.

The Stoddard Social Science building will be a 45,000-square-foot building, more than

doubling the capacity of students attending classes based in Social and Behavioral Sciences.

While also providing space for students to do related activities within the building.

As construction is underway there has been a clear impact on the students of the college,

and while there are many excited by the prospect of the new building there are many students

who will not see the completion of the new social science building. The staff of Snow College

however, look forward to seeing it.

Jason Cherry, member of the Snow College Staff working in the IT department had the

following to say about the construction of the new building. “The new Social Science Building

will be a great addition to the campus” Given the new space prospective students taking Social

Science courses may have.

Another account given is by a Geography teacher at Snow College working in the

building adjacent to the Social Science building known as David Little remarks that future

prospective students may have some benefits from just the aesthetics of the new building alone. "This new building with it's planned architecture will bring excitement and beauty to the

campus."

David Little refers to the new Social Science Center’s design taking its design from the

historic Noyes building along with the Huntsman Library and Grahm Science Center. Creating a

sense of unity between the older buildings of the campus and honoring the old Social Science

building.

The ground breaking may have just two months ago but Snow College is looking forward

to the Mark R, and LeAnn W. Stoddard Social Science building creating new opportunities for

future prospective students, both of Social Science majors and not.
