On September 9th, Snow Students came together to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention at the annual Glow Run put on by the Wellness Advocates. Students gathered near the business building to light up the night with messages of hope and support.

Before the run officially began, students gathered together to listen to a message from guest speaker Bri Powell about suicide prevention and mental health. Students listened intently, and it was a moment to reflect on mental health and its impact on individuals. Kiana Hansen, one of the wellness advocates said that “Bri’s message to us was unforgettable. One thing I thought of was how brave and blunt she was about her story, and how she moved the students who were there.”

After, participants suited up in glowsticks, sparkles, and anything neon, turning the campus into a glowing sea of color. Students made a couple quick laps around campus, some running and others chose to walk. Walking or running, students showed their support for mental health awareness.

The event showed, as it has for years in the past and years to come, that mental health matters. Jaelie Hansen, a student who attended the event said, “It was powerful to see so many people come together to show that no one has to face darkness alone.” By combining fun with these important themes, the event serves as a beacon of hope for the students at Snow.
