Snow College has established viable and competitive wrestling programs for both men's and womens wrestling.

This is a game changer for youth wrestlers from Utah; knowing that Snow College provides a welcome and much needed opportunity to train and compete in a high quality college program while staying home in Utah. Snow, Utah State, University of Utah and BYU used to have wrestling, but they all dropped their wrestling programs as a result of unexpected consequences of Title IX.

With the recent surge in popularity of women’s wrestling, we are seeing more attention and growth across the nation for all wrestling programs, including existing men’s wrestling teams. There was a wave six years ago that sanctioned women’s wrestling and it has become the fastest growing sport in America.

Since covid, the numbers have almost doubled. Snow College has the only sanctioned women’s wrestling program in the state of Utah. The Snow College women's wrestling team started this year with 35 girls on their roster 30 being from Utah. Snow

Mens and womens wrestling has a national championships. For the women’s team, their goal is to qualify all 10 weight classes for nationals. To achieve All-American status, a wrestler must place in the top eight at nationals. Snow College had three All-Americans their first year, and last year they had seven.

The Snow College women’s wrestling team has 14 athletes ranked in the top eight in the nation. Jennifer Thomas and Kinley Brandley are returning All-Americans. Rachel Jones is ranked #1 in country. Ana Valentina Martinez Jimenez is ranked top three in the country. Ashlea Larson is a returning national finalist. Bella Butterfield and Hallie Carter are also wrestlers to watch for. Snow College has several home events this year and they plan to host a tournament next year.

When asked what his vision is for the future of women's wrestling at Snow College, Coach Ross Taylor said, “I'm excited for the growth of women's wrestling. I think as far as snow college goes we are strategically well placed. Utah women's wrestling is good and the outcome is positive. Sports develop character, integrity, dedication, grit, and a hard work ethic.”
