The Theater Department at Snow college thus far has put on two great shows. The rest of the year looks like it will but much of the same. Audiences have seen what the stars on the stage are capable of, but what happens behind the curtains?

The process and preparation for a show here at Snow College requires more than just the actors on the stage. Overseeing all of it is the director, making sure that everyone on the team is crucial. Those on team, costume design, stage crew, production team, stage and prop design, and many more.

The directors here at the Snow continue and strive and work hard to make sure the shows are the very best they can be. Jenn Chandler is just one of all the great directors who works very hard throughout the whole process from auditions to the final bow.

The acting so far in the productions have been great each with casts loaded with talent. Chloe Hannah was featured in both plays and showed talents for both singing and acting. Showing that acting is full effort job.

There is so much that happens behind the scenes. In “The Lightning Thief” there were multiple creatures and special effects that required hours of costume design. There were also fight scenes in the show that were choreographed by McKenzie Levie.

The department has focused heavily on getting students with any interest involved with the shows. Students get a great opportunity to learn and have great fun in the process.

To recap, the department’s first show of the year was “Persuasion” a play based off the final book Jane Austen. The second was “The Lighting Thief” a musical about the first Percy Jackson book.

The next two shows are “Anastasia” which will be the second of back-to-back musicals after “The Lightning Thief.” The show dates for the show will be from the 19th to the 22nd, and the 26th to the 1st.

The next show will be “An Enemy of the People.” The auditions for the play were held last week. Lines of students presenting their incredible talent with one common goal, to make the cut. Dates for that show will be from the 16th to the 19th, and the 21st to the 24th of February.

There are to be expected plenty of acting majors lining up with excitement to get their dream rules. The question is who will take the spotlight?
