Summer time usually means relaxation for students. No homework, no deadlines, no exams to study for, and no pressure. However, for some students, summer means continuing classes in order to get ahead in their schooling and graduation.

Snow College offers summer classes to any students who want to register for them. This can be helpful for certain things such as getting ahead with math or English classes. This, in turn, means that students can get those classes out of the way so they can come back next semester and start on the courses needed for their majors and graduation.

“Taking summer classes at Snow College can benefit students by accelerating their studies, allowing them to catch up on coursework, offering access to special or elective courses not available during regular semesters, and tuition savings.” says Chair of the Math Department, Steve Zollinger.

If students are interested in signing up for summer classes they can enroll the same way that they would if they were selecting classes for the fall/spring semester. Some courses can last for 8 weeks with others lasting up to12 weeks. This can mean more work for students because of the short time period.

When asked for advice for students taking summer classes, Zollinger said, “Get a good study schedule in place Day 1 of your summer classes. The shorter summer classes mean that you will be expected to put more time each week on a course than you would during a regular semester.”

With a good study schedule and a willingness to continue learning, students can get ahead as much as possible, including in their classes and majors. By offering summer classes here at Snow, it allows for students to accomplish just that. Summer classes are taught by a handful of teachers that dedicate their summer to helping students get ahead in their education as much as possible.
